Pocket was a read-it-later app: a reading queue with a clean reader view and its own account. Bookmend isn't a reading app and doesn't offer a reader view. What it does is make a library of saved pages useful again. Each page you save is read by AI, summarized in a few sentences and given suggested tags and a collection. When you need something back, you chat with your bookmarks and get an answer drawn from the pages you saved, with citations you can click.

If you exported your Pocket library before the shutdown, import it into Bookmend as a bookmarks.html file. Link health then flags the saves that have died and offers Wayback Machine copies where they exist.

Not a like-for-like one. Pocket was a read-it-later app with a distraction-free reader view, which Bookmend doesn't have. Bookmend is an AI bookmark manager: it keeps the readable text of each page you save, summarizes it, and lets you ask your library questions and get answers with citations.

How do I get my Pocket saves into Bookmend?

Import your Pocket export into Bookmend as a bookmarks.html file. If you only have Pocket's CSV export, convert it to a bookmarks.html file first. Each import can hold up to 20,000 bookmarks.

Can Bookmend recover Pocket saves that have gone dead?

Often, yes. With link health (part of Premium, free during early access), Bookmend flags dead links and offers the Wayback Machine snapshot closest to when the page last worked as a replacement. Pages that were never archived can't be recovered.
