Install & sign up

Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store. It works in Chrome (including Chromebooks), Brave, Edge, Arc and Opera. Firefox is coming soon; Safari and mobile apps aren't available. Sign in to the extension and the web app at bookmend.appwith the same account and you'll see the same library in both. Want to look around first? Start without an account: you get a temporary library with a small bookmark limit, and signing up later keeps everything you saved.

Save & import

Save the page you're on from the extension, or add a link in the web app. Bookmend fills in the title, description, image and site for you. To bring in bookmarks you already have, export them from your browser as a bookmarks.htmlfile (in Chrome: Bookmark manager → ⋮ → Export bookmarks) and import it into Bookmend. One import can hold up to 20,000 bookmarks. Bookmend's own export format imports too, and you can export your library at any time.

AI tags, notes, collections & summaries

After you save a page, Bookmend reads its text and writes a summary: 2–4 plain sentences on what the page covers. When you save or edit a bookmark, one click suggests tags, a short note, and which of your collections it belongs in. Suggested tags reuse the tags you already have instead of inventing near-duplicates, and generic or junk tags are filtered out. AI never creates a collection by itself. Collections can be nested, for example Dev / Databases.

Ask your library (chat with your bookmarks)

Ask a question in plain language and Bookmend answers from the pages you saved, with numbered citations that link to the bookmarks it used. It finds pages by meaning, using each page's own text plus its title, tags, summary and notes, so you don't need to remember exact words. Remembered details work as filters: dates ("last spring", "this week"), sites ("on github") and tags ("tagged recipes"). Follow-up questions work ("and the other one?"). Questions about the library itself (recent or oldest saves, favourites, bookmarks in no collection, what's in a collection, counts like "how many from youtube", most used tags, top sites, or "surprise me") are answered exactly from your data.

Search & filters

Regular search covers title, URL, site, notes, description, AI summary and tags. Filter and sort the results, and save filter combinations you use often as presets. Mark favourites, use bulk actions on many bookmarks at once, and restore anything you deleted from the recycle bin.

Link health

Bookmend checks your saved links in the background, at most once a day per bookmark, and flags the ones that are dead. For a dead link it finds the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine) snapshot closest to when the page last worked and offers it as the replacement. Pages that were never archived can't be recovered, but Bookmend keeps the readable text of each page you save, so what it said stays in your library.

Plans

Free is the bookmark manager: save, collections, tags, search, import and export. Premium adds all AI features (Ask your library, AI suggestions, summaries) and link health, with a generous daily AI limit. During early access every new account gets everything in Premium at no charge, so all AI features are free during early access. See Pricing.

Your data

Your bookmarks live in your Bookmend account, which is how the extension and web app stay in sync. Bookmend's servers fetch the pages you save to read their text (sometimes through the Jina Reader service), AI features send page text and bookmark details to model providers through OpenRouter, and link checks request your saved URLs from our servers. No ads, no selling data. The Privacy page has the details.
